The transfer of Dominic Ongwen, an alleged brigade commander of the Lord's Resistance Army, to The Hague for trial is a significant achievement for international justice. Mr Ongwen has been transferred pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court on charges of crimes against humanity and war crimes.
The EU congratulates all those who made this transfer possible. Their efforts in this respect are helping bring justice for the thousands of victims of the LRA, and among them many children.
The EU will continue to support all efforts to put an end to the terror caused by the Lord's Resistance Army and to bring its leader, Joseph Kony, before the ICC in due course.
